Preschool Ministry ~ Stephanie Chase ~ Everything You Need to Know about Preschool Ministry (and a little more)

Stephanie ChaseWhen you think of preschool ministry, what comes to mind – crayons, cribs, playgrounds and puppets? Join us for a fun-filled, action-packed morning where we will discover and discuss all you’ve been wondering about preschool ministry… including teaching the Bible to preschoolers (birth-k), relating to parents, classrooms, resources, and reaching the community!

Stephanie Chase is Kids Minister at Champion Forest Baptist Church in Houston.

She has a background and training in early (preschool) education. An experienced conference leader, she is author of the TBCWE curriculum School Age Fun. Stephanie and her husband Rick have three children: Nicole 21, Tori 20, and Michael 17. Stephanie loves the Lord, her family,
people, and is passionate about raising up the next generation of believers through writing, speaking, and serving! For fun, she loves to run, eat ice cream, read, and play outside!

 

Children’s Ministry ~ Cindy Pitts ~ Part 1 Learning to Teach from the Master/ Part 2: Ways Children Learn (and Adults)

PART 1:Cindy Pitts

In this interactive class we will look at biblical passages that narrate teaching methods that Jesus used, so bring your Bible!  Participants will discover how to take any Bible Story and make it a multisensory experience for children.  We will also discuss how to present difficult biblical concepts in ways that children can understand.

 

PART 2:

Our Creative Creator made each person unique and we all learn in many different ways.  Most people have one dominate learning style.  We will examine the concepts of learning styles and how teach with variety in your planning and presentation to meet the needs of the children in your classroom.  We will also talk about managing children’s behavior.

Cindy Pitts is Minister to Children at Heights Baptist Church in Alvin, Texas.

She is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and has served as Minister to Children at Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving, Texas and First Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.  In all she has served in full time Children’s Ministry for 35 years. She is the wife of Ron Pitts and the mother of Andrew and Sarah Pitts.

 

Youth Ministry ~ Ben Rosenberger ~ Developing Youth Ministries that Produce Transformed Disciples

Be honesBen Rosenbergert! How is your youth group at your church? Are they growing spiritually? Do you see students living on mission? Do you have a game plan for what you desire for your students to learn? Does your youth group have a team of volunteers working together? In our time together we will talk about making sure that your youth ministries are focusing on educating disciples of Christ for God’s future plans for them. We will learn about some great resources, as well as some critically important topics and subjects that our youth groups need to be covering. We will talk about some practical discipleship structures that focus on helping students grow beyond just knowledge in their practical everyday lives to also growing to see their neighborhoods and schools as the mission fields they are. We will discuss these subjects and more as we seek to lead youth ministries that produce true Holy Spirit empowered transformation.

Ben Rosenberger is Senior Pastor of Bayshore Baptist Church in La Porte, TX.

He came to the pastorate after many years in youth education, serving churches in the Houston area, East and Central Texas. Ben has shared the gospel with thousands of youth through his ministry,  mission trips, and large community-wide Disciple Now events, as well as overseas ministry with   unreached people groups in parts of Asia and Africa. He studied Biblical Languages and Theology at Houston Baptist University and received a Master of Arts in Theology from B.H. Carroll Theological Institute. He married Shelly in 2008 and they have their first child on the way.

 

Adult Ministry Track 1 ~ Jeff Fuqua ~ Ministering To, Ministering With Your Adult GroupJeff Fuqua

Transformational Learning is a participatory activity, and the leader/teacher encourages his/her group by modeling ministry to them and encouraging them to take the gospel to others. The focus of this learning track is to provide group leaders with practical strategies for both inreach and outreach.

Jeff Fuqua is Minister of Education at South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena, TX.

He previously served at Cedar Bayou Baptist in Baytown. He has been in vocational ministry since 1978, and he has a passion for stepping out beyond the church facility to physically meet the needs of the community through many ongoing missional projects. He enjoys playing bass guitar, golf, softball, construction projects, and playing with his grandchildren. Jeff received his Master of Arts in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1990.  Jeff has been a consultant for both associational and state groups in Texas.

 

Grant RothbergAdult Ministry Track 2 ~ Grant Rothberg ~ Teaching for Transformation

Adult Bible study often focuses on the content of a particular passage, with a necessary emphasis on historical context and the challenges of biblical language. Teaching for Transformation is intended to help the adult leader build upon that base and develop plans that help learners personalize the truth of Scripture as they increasingly grow into Christ-likeness.

Grant Rothberg is Pastor of Discipleship & Biblical Counseling Pastor at Bay Area First Baptist Church in League City, TX. He has been instrumental in changing the culture of Sunday school from one of gathering each week to becoming a LifeGroup that meets regularly outside the church doors. Grant received both his undergraduate (2004) a Master of Divinity (2006) from Houston Baptist University, and focused on New Testament studies until 2009. Prior to his work for Bay Area, he was Chaplain with the 82nd Airborne Division deployed to Afghanistan. Grant is a Doctor of Ministry Candidate with Gateway Seminary, and he and his wife Carrie are expecting their first child.

En un grupo pequeno de estudio (clase de Escuela Dominical), los lideres efectivos de Estudio Biblico proveen una gran ayuda al ministerio y predicacion pastoral.  El enfoque de este seminario proveera a los maestros y obreros de habla hispana con estrategias para llevar estudios biblicos que cambien vidas.

Jair Campos es uno de nuestros iniciadores de Iglesias en la Area 3 de los Bautistas de Texas.  En este rol, Jair se reune regularmente con los patrocinadores de las Iglesias y con los nuevos pastores para proveer recursos y asi edificar una nueva Iglesia saludable.  Jair esta trabajando con nuestro primer Centro de Plantacion de Iglesias para entrenar pastores prospectos en estas obras nuevas.

 

Pastors and General Officers ~ Randy Gilchrist & Carey Froelich ~ Cultivating a Transformational Culture in Bible Study

The pastor’s role in the Bible study ministry of the church—whether through Sunday School, small groups, or other on-going ministry—is crucial. From organization to leadership enlistment to     curriculum planning to training support, the pastor and staff have a great opportunity to lead the Bible study team in Transformational Learning. This seminar suggests practical strategies for    directing this important ministry in ways that encourage members to be growing disciples of Jesus Christ.

Randy Gilchrist is Executive Director of SJBA.

He has served local churches as pastor and other staff positions. He also spent several years as a church starter and then served Texas Baptists as a consultant in SE Texas. Dr. Gilchrist graduated Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with the Doctor of Education Ministry.Carey Froelich

Carey Froelich is Associate Director for Church Enrichment of SJBA.

He brings more than 40 years of service in Christian Education in local churches in Louisiana and Texas. He was awarded the Doctor of Education Ministry in 2002 from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where one of his primary fields of study was Christian Discipleship and Spiritual Formation in Believers.
