The Texas Energy Museum was formed in 1987 to tell the story of oil through state of the art exhibits including talking robotic characters. The museum opened on January 10, 1990, the anniversary of the Spindletop gusher.
The Fire Museum of Texas is located in the former Central Fire Station built in 1927. The Fire Museum is dedicated to preserving fire service history, educating people about fire & life safety and the contributions of the fire service. The Fire Museum has been endorsed by the State Firemen’s and Fire Marshall’s Association as Texas’ official fire museum since 1986.
